Second Layer Management:
The Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Senyatse Desmond Phaladi is the founder and the CEO of BBP Mining and Projects.
He holds a BA Law Degree from University of the Witwatersrand (WitsUniversity), a Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law ,and a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Law (University of Johannesburg). He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Prospecting and Mining Law at Wits University.
He has worked at the Parliamentary Office of Africa’s biggest trade union, National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and participated in the law making processes. He then headed NUM legal matters for the Western Cape Province for over five years.
He also worked as a Business Unit IR Manager at Medupi Power Station (Construction Phase).
The Executive Director: Construction
Mr Dumsani Isaac Ngwenya is the Executive Director: Construction.
He holds a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (4 year program) from the School of Construction Economics and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. Dumsani has a wealth of experience in the construction industry as a whole, he has worked in the building sector, civil engineering construction sector, roads and earthworks, operational efficiency (Lean Construction) and he has been involved in Mechanical, piping, structural steel, electrical and instrumentation construction works in the Petrochemical industry.
He also undertook an extensive Nuclear Power Plant Construction Training program which was attended by selected employees in the People’s Republic of China to prepare for the South African build which is still at an early stage. He also assisted in problem projects overseas.
Prior to joining BBP Mining and Projects on a fulltime basis he worked for the following companies:

The Executive Director: Transport

Mr. Erasmus Kgape Phaladi is a co-founder and an Executive Director for Transport Division of BBP Mining and Projects.
He is currently enrolled for a National Diploma in Transport Management with the University of Johannesburg.
He has gained experience in recruitment and that helped BBP Mining and Projects to secure experienced workforce to help in the execution of management’s operational plans.
The Executive Director: Mining

Mlungisi Malik Mahlambi is an Executive Director of mining at BBP Mining and Projects and leads all the mining projects at BBP in South Africa and in Zimbabwe. Malik is a mining engineer with over 9 years’ exposure in the mining industry.
He has been involved in the industry at operational, planning and entrepreneurial levels with different organisations and has acquired invaluable experience in the process. He has been involved in long term planning for various commodities including gold, chrome, uranium, manganese, platinum, nickel, coal and heavy minerals. He has experience in the extraction methods of most types of deposits ranging from flat to narrow steep dipping deposits.
Malik has been involved with BBP since its early days and has contributed in developing the company. His operational and mine planning experience are the cornerstones of his input into the company. He is currently involved in the development of two mining companies in Zimbabwe. The said companies are mining chrome and gold.
He also has interests in the advancement of education within Africa and is currently involved with a non-profit organisation, Siyamukela High School Alumni.
Malik holds a BSc Engineering (Mining) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Second Layer Management:
Manager: HR
Mr. Ngidi M A holds the position of Manager: HR. Mr. Ngidi holds a BA Degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, a Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg, as well as a Certificate on the Basic Principles of Project Management from UNISA.
Chief Safety Officer

Mr Mdu Sibiya is the Chief Safety Officer.
He holds the following qualifications:
- Safety Diploma and a Safety Officer’s certificate from Chamber of Mines South Africa;
- He has also acquired SHE Practitioner certificate from International Risk Control Academy (IRCA);
- Integrated Management System qualification from ISOQAR for lead auditors;
- Legal Liability certificate from Anglo Development Centre;
- Street Law intermediate certificate from UNISA; and
- SHE International risk management certificate for process (IRCA).
He has worked for Sappi Ngodwana Mill (Pulp and Paper) as an Assist Risk Superintendent for plant shut down and projects; Corocoat South Africa (Corrosion protection and engineering) as SHE officer; and Bokoni Platinum Mine as Safety officer and Khobongo SHEQ Consulting as Director.
He is currently enrolled with Unisa for NDSM and applied for professional registration with IOSM (Institute for Safety Management)
Mr Mdu Sibiya is a qualified and accredited lead auditor by ISOQAR in Integrated Management Systems based on Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS) and (Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) system. He has an all-encompassing experience in risk assessment, accident investigations, contractor management, audits, inspections including safety management systems for processing plants and mining operations.
